Danielle was crowned "Miss Great Britain" but was dropped after starting dating on the the Great Britain judges,
Footballer Teddy Sheringham. Find out what Danielle has to say about it all ... I always had a passion for modeling or acting and after entering some small competitions in and around Liverpool, my mum entered me for Miss Merseyside. I was so excited getting through to the Final. My Nan had a dress made for me and I looked like a million dollars in it. I thought I had a good chance of getting into the top 5. Unfortunately the night before the show I had been driving home after having my nails, eyebrows and pampering done, I was attacked, dragged from my car by my hair, whilst the was was still moving. After falling to the ground I was then dragged along the road feeling every piece of gravel embedding itself into my back, legs, arms and head. Suddenly the car stopped as it hit the curb and rolled over my arm. I lost most of my hair in clumps and had severe cuts and bruising all over my body. My mum telephoned the organizers and explained to them what had happened. They told my mum to bring me down to the competition and they would help me cover up my bruises and have the hairdresser fix up my hair. They explained to my mum that if I did not continue with the competition, I probably would not enter another one and my confidence would go. It was the most painful experience I have been through in my life and I hated every minute of being on stage. I kept thinking people could see my bruises and start coming to their own conclusions. I managed to get in the top 7 and now I only have the organizers and my mum to thank. If it was not for them supporting me, I would never have continued with my modeling or entering beauty competitions. It took months of counseling for me to start to try and forget, but deep down you can't, you blame yourself and tell yourself you must have deserved it. Since then I have pushed myself to enter as many competitions as possible with the help of my family, friends and groups like Women's Aid. During the past 8 months I have won Queen of Clubs World Model of the Future in Athens, Miss Hawaiian Tropic Great Britain, Miss Velvet Lounge Liverpool and came 1st Runner Up in Queen of the World in Munich. My proudest achievement is winning Miss England and being given the chance to take part in Miss World 2004 in China! I feel very honored and privileged and this has helped me a lot to forget my bad experience. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped me achieve this. With all of their support, I have now regained my dignity, confidence and self-esteem. |
